National Master Ryan Luo

My name is Ryan Luo, and I am a USCF National Master of Chess who currently resides in Delaware. I am 18 years old, and I am excited to teach young students interested in learning more about the game of chess. Currently ranked number two in Delaware, I have attended tournaments across 10 different states, have represented Delaware on a national level, and have played competitive chess since age nine. In second grade, I stumbled upon a chess club in elementary school. My second grade self had to know what game was being played inside the library, and as they say, the rest was history. From that accidental introduction to chess, I have gained friends from many different states and even from other countries, anyone who looks close enough can see how beautiful the game is. Many important skills are built and developed within the game, such as risk-calculation, keeping cool under pressure, and intuition. I only hope that I can inspire others to become as absorbed in this amazing game as I was.
